'Goldilocks' blocks

An installation consisting of two sets of blocks (a single block is 50x50x50cm) and a series of ten photographs. The first set consists of six coloured blocks and is an enlarged puzzle depicting the story of Goldilocks. The second set consists of twelve grey blocks with realistic drawings created using photographs and depicting simple domes...tic activities and situations. This spatial form is accompanied by ten photographs (digital print, 60x40cm format) depicting different configurations of the puzzle with Goldilocks. The project presents fragments of childhood that intermingle with fragments of everyday adult life. It is a juxtaposition of the childhood and fairytale home with the home of the present. The blocks as a medium emphasise the memory characteristic of fragmentation. On the one hand, the installation shows snippets of an intimate world - it is a juxtaposition of the world of the author, now an adult woman, with the world of Goldilocks, a favourite childhood heroine. On the other hand, it is an open world - it allows the viewer to play a game of rearranging and playing with the blocks, as well as to return to the past, to their childhood.
